What I'm loving lately....

I've been doing a little switcheroo in my makeup routine lately and I've discovered some new products that I LOVE and re-discovered some old ones that are the best out there!

Here's the rundown:

Hard Candy, "Just Face It" Foundation: Still holding up to it's awesomeness 6 months after I started using it. Totally amazing. I've used it on so many clients and it is gorgeous on everyone, young and young-at-heart. Best product out there in the price range. Get it. Seriously.

Hard Candy , "All Lid Up" Waterproof/ Creaseproof Cream Eyeshadow:
When I stumbled upon this product I believe my inner monologue went something like this
"Crease proof?! pshhhh we'll see. Waterproof?! no wayyy. CREAM!?!?!? SPARKLE?!!? 5 DOLLARS?!?! Ok, yeah I need it."
First, let me just emphasize my love for a cream shadow. They are the easiest, dreamiest most malliable and foolproof shadows to work with and my heart has been in absolute agony because I could create the most beautiful eye looks with them, that would then stay for five minutes. KBYE.
I decided to try out this in a quest to put an end to my 10 year long dilemma and boy am I loving this product!
I purchased the color Quick Sand and it provides just enough light and sparkle to perk up my tired eyes on the weekdays! I just use the color all over my lid, up to my browbone and BAM! (queue the song from Old School "turn aroundddd bright eyessss") I look instantly refreshed and polished.... and seriously, it STAYS ALL DAY! :) It's also great as a shadow base for other colors!

Cover Girl Classic Color Blush in Iced Plum:  Ok Never have I everrrrr..... Found a blush that is this awesome on every skin tone, smells good and stays this long and also does not make me look like a weird doll. Enough said. I've been using this since I first stared playing with makeup of my Mom's... I strayed for a little while, using colors from my Coastal Scents palatte and they are a close 2nd, but this is still my favorite.

Revlon Ultimate Suede Superstay Lipcolor in Supermodel: Ever think nude lipstick washes you out? Well I do. I love just having a "slightly darker than my lips" shade on for everyday wear but certainly not something as dark as plum or wine! Enter SUPERMODEL. The most amazing everyday lipcolor I've come across in years. I would recommend it to anyone of any skin tone. Just amazing and stays for hours!

I hope you love these new/old gems as much as I do! I've linked the titles to all of the products so you can buy them in a snap!

Lauren and James, A Capitol City Wedding.

I attended high school with Lauren and several of her bridesmaids and was thrilled to hear from a familiar voice when she asked me to be the makeup artist for her wedding!
It was so great to have the opportunity to just concentrate on makeup and really provide a unique look for her, several of her bridesmaids and her mom.

To really get a customized experience for my makeup clients, I provide a vision sheet that lets you tell me about your skin, what you love, what you do on a daily basis and what you wish you could play up more!
I used the vision sheet for Lauren, and her bridesmaids and loved each individual look!

Lauren's look was a bronze/eggplant smokey eye with a nude lip. It looked fabulous on her and she absolutely sparkled on her big day!!

Her mom's dress was a gorgeous charcoal color so we decided on a plum smokey eye and mauve lip.

Sara wanted a light-to-dark faded silvery/gray smokey eye and it looked fantastic on her! I love this candid shot of she and Lauren talking.

Coursey mentioned in her vision sheet that she didn't usually wear a lot of makeup... I loved creating a clean and natural, but still polished look for her!! You don't always need makeup to be heavy to bring out your beauty and she was a PERFECT example!!

I did one of my favorite eye looks EVER on Caroline! She had individual false lashes applied the day before and they were the icing on the cake for this amazing winged look!

Grace (4th from the right) loves smokey eyes!!! Loved creating a super dark, smokey look for her! It really made her eyes pop against her dark skin!
Anna W (4th from the left) chose to use her own products and have me apply them! I've never met a girl with more makeup than me but I loved using her sparkle palatte from Sephora and Berry Lipstick to really make her eyes pop!
Anna H, Next to the Bride on left, is a mom with barely any time for makeup! I was able to feather in some dark, rich browns on her and fill in her brows and she said she felt like a movie star! I loved seeing her face light up after the big reveal!
Carly, second from the left, is still in high school I was able to create a similar look to Coursey's to make her shine!
Here's a look at all the Bridesmaids together! (only bridesmaids with specified descriptions above styled by CBC)

Cheers to the Kennemores!!!

The Best Palatte EVERRRRR!!!

I can't rave enough about my Coastal Scents 26 Shadow and Blush Palatte!!!!
I purchased this in an effort to condense some of my blushes and shadows and to avoid running around like a chicken with her head cut off when looking for a particular color and it has been amazing! It has everything you need to create anything from a daytime bronze eye to a more smokey, dark brown and purple look.
For mid-range shadows that look amazing on everyone, this palatte is the best!!! It has even more versatility than the Naked or Naked II palatte because it encorporates more purple and pink shades, giving you a versatility that is unrivaled!!!

Purchase it here: (on sale now for TWELVE DOLLARS! TWELVE!!!)
http://www.coastalscents.com/pl-004.html

I can promise you'll be thrilled with it!

Pink is her Signature Color!

I've known Ashlie for about 3 years... She was one of the first people I met when I moved to Atlanta and has become one of my best friends! She and Josh are an amazing, kind, funny couple who have welcomed me into their family over the years and I couldn't have been more honored to share in their wedding day!

Ashlie looks great without a stitch of makeup on so she made my job incredibly easy!!

For Ashlie's bridal shoot, we did a more glamourous look that included bright pink liptstick and eyelashes!

For Ashlie's wedding I had the privilege of creating hair and makeup looks for her and her three bridesmaids, as well as both the mothers of the Bride and Groom! It was a hectic, but amazingly successful day!!!
Ashlie's signature color is pink, so we went with pink/purple/plum inspired tones for the makeup!
For the hair, the bridesmaids all did a half-up or down look, and the mothers of the bride got special creations of their choice! Take a look at the gorgeous ladies!

and the moms!

Ashlie's hair was a mock braided half-up, that we transitioned into a loose side swept updo for the reception! We made her makeup more bronze and dark pink than in the bridal shoot which worked great against her skin tone! After all, pink is her signature color :)
I was so happy to have been a part of something so beautiful!!!

The Seven Dollar Miracle

I know, I know... BB Cream is all the rage right now..... Don't tell anyone, but I think it's overrated.
The truth is that most women need more coverage than a BB cream. It's great as a primer, but personally I don't love the feeling of having 17 layers on my skin for every day makeup! Enter the happiest chain of accidents that's ever lived.....

A few months ago I was in the market for some new foundation because the ole complexion just ain't as radiant as it once was, and my Maybelline Age Rewind, while it's the perfect color, just wasn't impressing me. I went into Wal-Mart originally thinking that I'd try some new concealer, since it's usually cheaper than foundation, and yours truly is DEF on a budget, per the usual! I'd been searching around and after a friend's recommendation of Kat Von D's concealer, decided to try the drugstore dupe, Hard Candy's Glam-o-flage. (Have I mentioned I have some serious circles?? Yeah. It's like that. I ain't 'shamed!)
While in the Hard candy section, I stumbled across their "Just Face It" foundation, a primer, concealer, and foundation all in one, it's bottle claimed! Ok yes, I'm a sucker. I instantly grabbed it, hoped it would be a miracle worker, but after all the promises that makeup companies usually make and fail to deliver on, was definitely skeptical. But hey, it was 7 bucks, how could I say no??

Well of course, I had to try it on as soon as I got in the car and let's just say that the glam-o-flage did not impress me. (I hung in there with it for a couple more weeks just to make sure, but if you have anything, even slightly resembling an undereye wrinkle, it will settle in there. ew. nope. bye) but then I tried the foundation.
Oooohh Glorious perfect foundation! It was everything it promised and more. My skin looked damn near perfect. and that was JUST ONE PRODUCT. I tried it again the next time I got ready to see if I'd have the same result and I did! This time, I finished it off with concealer, powder and bronzer because it was date night but my gosh it takes my face from "EW" to "ohhhh she has great skin"! It is a $7 miracle and I don't know how I lived without it. I apply it with a big, slightly rounded brush from my coastal scents brush set and it just looks amazing and melts right into my skin! I could ramble on about it for hours, but you'll just have to try it to believe me :) I do still need to apply a tiny bit of concealer to blemishes and my undereye circles because my skin is particularly ew from time to time, but I would imagine for anyone who had just normal discoloration, that one coat of foundation only would do the trick for a natural day look.

And, As if I was even close to done raving about this foundation, I've found that in the summer months I mix it right into a little bit of my moisturizer  for an AMAZING sheer look that STILL COVERS!!!!!!!! If you hate thick foundation, this will definitely be the route for you. One morning while in a rush I put my foundation on immediately after I'd moisturized and it just blended into the softest, sheerest perfection I could have ever thought about! Like a BB cream on steroids!!

Please go out and get yourself a bottle of this wonder-potion. It will NOT disappoint!

With wedding season (aka makeup season for me!!) coming to a close, I've had a chance to reflect on the brides I've styled and realize that nothing, and I mean nothing, makes me happier than making someone else feel beautiful! It's a feeling of kindness I just can't put into words! I believe that God made true beauty to SHINE, not be hidden and I want to help Him in that mission! If you could share CBC... via facebook, commenting on the blog or page, word of mouth, or business card to even just a couple of people, I'd be so grateful!
Thanks to everyone who's already experienced the CBC treatment ;) You ladies are absolutely invaluable!

"The" Change

AND HELL NO I'm not talking about Menopause! I'm way too young for that!! :)
Ahhhh Hello late 20s!! With my 27th birthday fast approaching it's no secret that I'm in that "almost but not quite 30" stage of life. It's also no secret that I used to be a smoker and sun goddess since I'm starting to notice the beginning stages of what my mother talked about all those years... the dreaded skin sag.... loss of elasticity, drying out, one hour in the sun makes you look like you a cowhide when it never used to in college stage.
YIKES. I never ever thought it would happen to me, but it did. And because it did, I'm having to adjust my entire skincare and makeup routine. The makeup I used to love before now make my face look pourous and chalky. The skincare that I thought I'd never switch from dries me out even more.
I've been at a combination stage on my skin for a little while, wanting desperately to make the jump from acne to anti-aging products, but everytime I did, breakouts would ensue. (inner monologue: "weren't my breakouts supposed to go away when I  grew up?!) I'd venture to say that for most, the 20s are a weird stage anyway, somewhere between adulthood and wanting to still be a kid.... and you don't need your skin causing more problems, trust me!!
After copious research, I've formulated a budget friendly routine that will ease you into the wide world of anti-aging while still keeping you pimple free! I can honestly say I don't think I've ever been happier with my skin. It's clear, it's glowing, it's NOT even close to looking 30!!

The routine for Morning and Night:

Wash your face with water that's on the cool side of warm. Anything too hot will strip the skin of moisture.
Product: Olay or Equate Classic Anti-aging Cleanser (I'm using the Equate, but couldn't find it online)
Price: 4.67 for Olay, 3.97 for Equate at WalMart
Why I love it: It cleans without stripping your face of it's moisture. and BONUS! it exfoliates and gets gross dry skin off! I'm an avid self tanner and there's nothing grosser (is that a word?! lol) than having an extra tan patch of dry skin on your face. EW.
Find it here: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Olay-Age-Defying-Series-Dly-Renewal-Cleanser-6.78-Oz/888150

Then Exfoliate some more (we hate dry skin!!) and fight Zits!
Product: OXY Maximum Cleansing Pads (I Use the Equate Duplicate)
Price: $4.67 for the Brand name. I think the generic's are around $2.82
Why I love it: Keeps my skin Crystal Clear and feels amazing! Plus I love that you can acutally see the dirt and makeup that the cleanser left behind. The ultimate clean!

Finally, Moisturize that beautiful face!!
Product: St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Moisturizer
Price: GET THIS, $4.67 for a jar that will last for LITERALLY YEARS!!! What a steal! $9.34 for a 2pack!
Why I love it: A more appropriate title for this section would be Why DON'T I love this??!!? It's light but full of moisture, makes my skin feel CRAZY smooth, it makes my skin radiant, I Visibly have noticed a reduction in the small crows feet that I did have and an unsightly forehead wrinkle that has definitely softened. Best of all, NO BREAKOUTS!

Next time I'll do a post about how my makeup routine has changed with my skincare and skin!
Hope you all enjoy!

The Greatest Eyeliner Ever and Lining the Waterline

I've been a fan of black eyeliner for a long time. I use eggplant when I can find it, but it's rare that I do. I'm a self-sharpening kind of gal, and hate the mess of any pencil you have to sharpen yourself. Sure, maybe it's great and has a smudger at the end, but by the second broken tip, I'm OVER it. I had recently been stalking people's eye makeup as I felt like I'd fallen into a rut with my own and noticed how much of a difference it made when someone lined their waterline versus the rim of their eye.  (side note-- it's SUPER awkward when you find yourself really close to someone's face in a conversation because you are trying to stalk their makeup routine. I decided it was probably best if I just watched more youtube tutorials).
Lining the waterline makes your eye pop in a clean but smokey, piercing way that I've never ever experienced with lining the outside rim. One of my eyeliner Idols is my cousin Ashley. She looks like Cameron Diaz and has the most amazing blue eyes that she lines with navy blue eyeliner... check her out:

I KNOW. Gorgeous. You see why she's my eyeliner Idol. I never thought navy blue would be for me but with my recent rut, and the fact that I couldn't find eggplant liner in a self sharpening stick at target, I decided to just get so cray cray and opt for this shimmery, sapphire blue color. It's Rimmel London Exxagerate Waterproof Eye Definer in Deep Ocean. (wow that's a long frickin name for blue eyeliner!), about a 5 dollar pricepoint and OH so worth it! I got home, eager to play with my new purchase and have been hooked to this liner ever since. It's definitely lighter than navy but gives blue eyes a really great pop, not to mention that it goes on like buttahhhh.... I think on the next tube, I'll go back to eggplant or black, but blue has been a really fun addition to my makeup repertoire!!! (and hey-- if it makes me look anything like Ash, then.... WINNING!)
I highly recommend trying both the liner and lining the waterline instead of the outside of your eye. It can be slightly awkward at first ( like that friends scene where Rachel hates eyedrops ) but it's well worth sticking it out... check out what a difference it makes!
Here's my eyes, lined with black, on the outside lash line:
(not bad, but a lot of what you can see is just black eye makeup. I look like a raccoon already because of my circles... Lord knows I don't need any help!!)

And then here with the waterline lined with sapphire liner:
(Oh hey blue eyes!! Those eyes sure do pop and sparkle!!!)
